Recent work
IceFyre Semiconductor Inc.
- Created an “end-to-end” simulation of their mixed-signal 802.11a-based chip architecture. This included the modeling of all digital and analog RF component and a detailed knowledge of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and the IEEE 802.11a standard. The modeling was written in C/C++ and MatLAB.
Solicitor General of Canada.
- I helped develop custom DSP based real-time algorithms on a Texas Instruments TMS320C67x.
SiGEM Inc.
- This contract involved writing real-time low-level Assembler code for a TMS320C54x DSP to control acquisition for a Inmarsat SatCom 21Kbps QPSK modem.
Catena Networks Inc.
- Involved in the verification of a number of RTL hardware designs (DMA controller, FSK modems, caller ID) and verification of software modules. This was done using GNU C/C++, MatLAB and TCL.
Nortel Networks.
- Involved in two projects with Nortel and their optical networks group. The first involved the design and control of a front-end optical transmit/receive electrical interface prototype, using a TMS320C5x evaluation board and PC graphical interface. The second was a modeling exercise of a laser diode and PIN TIA receiver matching for optimal “eye” opening.
Department of Psychology, Carleton University.
- Involved with a number of projects within the department of psychology going back to 1993, when I designed and built hardware and software to aid researchers in their study of the ability of humans to localize sound. More recently, I have designed and written software for testing animal subjects and their ability to discriminate frequency and amplitude modulation. This work was done using Microsoft Visual C++ to control the experimental presentation (through the control of an Analog Devices’ SHARC DSP processor) and to collect and display the experiment results.
